Dancing? I Don't Think So...

Mentoring this week was very interesting. In math, the children are organizing and collecting data into data tables! Then with those data tables they list facts they know, such as what category is most and least popular! Usually, the data table has three categories, for example, “Do you like markers, crayons, or other?” So, then the kids would raise their hands for which one they liked. I got to get to know more about them through math which is always great because I love learning new things about my students!

In social studies, the kids finally finished their country project and put all the information on a t-shirt poster because the project originated from looking at all the different countries that make our shirts! The groups had to present in front of the class which some loved and some didn’t so I know who will not enjoy high school presentations!

Finally, because the students earned all of their marbles, a reward system for the class if they have good behavior, they got to choose a game to play. The class (and I) voted for Go Noodle which is something I had never played before, so I was very curious. The next day I found out what Go Noodle was. It is an online dance video site for children. Because I always play their reward games with them, unfortunately, I had to show off my horrible dancing skills. However, the children loved dancing and watching me dance so if they are happy, I’m happy!

Here is the link to the "Pop See Koo" dance!

Sadly, next week is my last week of mentoring so stay tuned for my final blog!
