At 18 years old, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on February 9, 2016! I am being treated at the OSUCCC James Cancer Hospital and, since then, have turned 21 and as of May 7,2018 am completely done with chemo! Thankfully, I was able to graduate from Hilliard Darby High School with Honors and a 4.0 GPA, and then finished a summer of softball before being diagnosed. Unfortunately, I had to end the process of attending college but that doesn't mean I'm giving up on it! I'm just on a little hiatus. Now that treatment is finished, I hope to resume finding my dream and continuing my education. My hobbies include writing, reading, painting, drawing, photography, exploring the many cracks and crannies of my laptop, and watching movies/t.v. shows! I enjoy going to concerts (when able) and love pop punk, rap, hip-hop, alternative rock, and electronic music! This website will be a record of my cancer journey. Although I started it a bit late, I am finally feeling up for it with enough energy mentally and physically to try and update it weekly! The title of my blog is, "The Side Effects," and I thought that was a proper name as cancer has MANY side effects and they don't just end when you finish chemotherapy! At times the side effects feel never ending and I plan to explain myself further in my future blog posts. With this website/blog, I hope to give strength, hope, knowledge, and support to you or any family member of yours going through the same thing, as well as, to just inform others about this crazy cancer!
